Thread Title: "Sportsmanssupply could be closed for a few days?????"
(no avatar) Here in Western PA we were hit with a bad wind storm. Our Butler store's outside road marquee has been blown apart but structurally our main building is fine minus some aluminum siding. We are without functioning cable, phone, internet or credit card machines even though our generator is keeping some lights on. This is keeping us in the dark from some of our customers who have completed auctions and wish to reach us but are instead receiving a busy signal.

If our customers read this thread please email us with your phone# and we will call you back. Our East Brady store located 30 miles NE is uneffected and we will be processing our credit card transactions through their machines. We expect to be up and running as normal by 9-17-08 or sooner.

As a side note my home has email service and power and we're trying to run our internet business from there until we receive full services again. Over 25% of the homes in our county are without power and we are thankful that the damage is due to fallen trees on utility lines rather than homes being destroyed.

Thank You for your patience through this ordeal.Best Regards,Grant Williams-President-SPORTSMANSSUPPLY

(no avatar) At 3:30pm our internet @ our main store has been restored. We now have phone service and credit card service. In fact our phone are ringing off the hook. Unfortunately we still DON'T have electric except through our portable generator thus we are having a hard time seeing things except with our trouble lights.

Thank You to all who have been patient with our ordeal. Hopefully later tonight we will receive power and can return to full service for all..Regards,Grant

(no avatar) We still don't have electricity. Yesterday our 3 area Post offices were ALL closed. Today one of them is open and my Dad waited in a 45 minute line to ship 18 packages. UPS came by yesterday and they are shipping as normal. We had NO delay from them at all. The US Postal service is having computer problems. Two of our employees did get their power back this morning so things are slowly getting back to normal.

We're hearing from some friends that in Ohio the power may not return until Saturday. We have been lucky and our employees and customers have been great with being patient.

We are receiving emails. We are printing auctions. Two of our phone lines are working. We have minimal lights.

Thank You to all who have emailed me directly.Grant

(no avatar) No power yet. Very little upgrading in power either. I have 2 congressman I'm close to. One where I live and a different one where I work. One has 2 offices. In his one office he has no power and has been told he'll get none until maybe Monday of next week. The other one has a car dealership and he has no power either. That's in electricity or in the power to get himself any. I slept in my parking lot last night to guard against a break-in. The police kept someone here until midnight but after that I was on my own. My Dad came out at 4:30 and switched me places.

My parents raised me to not depend on too much government to help me in need. The only people you can count on is kin and your neighbors and friends and in my case my coworkers. This has been an eye opening experience. Our internet customers have been great. I appreciate the words of encouragement. So too have been the locals.

The secutity company, utility company, police and representatives have been swamped and don't have the resources to aid but a few. Luckily I'm not depending on them. I feel bad for those in Texas going through much worse than I.

I'm thankful for this forum to express my pent up feelings.

brainaxe Keep up the good fight and good luck with the repairs. Hope damage is not too bad.

(no avatar) brainaxe the words are appreciated.

We are jury rigging some things to make our generator more efficient. Some of our D batteries are now dying and there is NOT a battery to be found in these parts.

We are just trying to do our best under the circumstances. We have no hopes of getting any power here soon. A lot of our local utility workers were sent to Texas on Friday so our utility companies were ill prepared for this. Ohio was hit even harder than us.

(no avatar) Grant, I have unfortunately never had the pleasure of dealing with your company. From your posts I can see you are a true PROFESSIONAL in all of your business dealings, and do look forward to doing business with you. Anyway, I am rambling, hope all went well with your business finally getting power. You take care and remember, even though I don't know you personnaly I do hope your business was not unduly affected by the outage. Take care, ISELLEM ( Tom )

(no avatar) Tom,

It is easy to tell you are a quality person from all of your posts. Thank You for your comments.

My road sign was blown away literally as was a lot of aluminum siding. The financial loss was measureable and stung a little but that's all. The character growth and bonded relationships by all of the staff coming together was priceless. We are all tired but what happened can be seen as a good thing with the right attitude.

Thank You and God Bless,Grant Williams-President-Sportsmanssupply

(no avatar) OLD RATTLER, I gathered that from his posts. I don't often enter anything in the posts. Most of the people don't want 'confused with facts' they already have their minds made up. Grant only seems to enter into or start a forum when he has something of value. Just the way I see it. ISELLEM ( Tom )
