Three Day auctions are the shortest we offer now. One-Day auctions were a snake pit of SCAMMERS who would show up on a Friday and make their tries, even get some money sent before Monday and before we could catch them. Also, some sellers were abusing the one day auctions by listing all their auctions as 1 Day auto-relist auctions thereby showing all their auctions everyday in the "Going, Going, Gone" category. We took them down for those two reasons. Can't really think of a thing 1 day auctions accomplish that 3 day ones won't other than they are a great vehicle for hit and run scammers and they clutter up the "Going, going, gone" category unnecessarily. |

| (no avatar) | Bob, somebody has pulled your chain on these as being nasty and bad. GB allows the one day auction. Futhermore, GB doesn't charge extra for the reserve auction, as AA does. Is there a reason for this? I have sold on both and I don't get scammed worse on one than the other. The Scammers are there as are the Deadbeats, you just have to pay attention. I'm also impressed how fast the posts are answered, how slow some emails are answered, and how some sellers can say or post most anything without being made to kow tow to the rules, just curiously strange, my opinion, we all have one. If I have upset you, I appologize before the fact, you answered, I'm just making a comment. |

Well, Manlicher, guess that goes to show you there is a difference between the BEST place on the Internet for firearms auctions and the "also ran" sites. Believe me, if anyone pulled a chain, it was me...I'm the lucky dog that has to lock and load, grab a flashlight and go down into that pit and clean it out when the Scammers infest it...take it from one who knows. It is bad when a customer gets scammed by a one-day auction and he his only his own uncontrollable greed to blame. You'd be surprised how many otherwise level headed and savvy folks can't wait to send their money off to an unknown new seller if they think they are getting a deal that is too good to be true. As the end of the old saw goes..."It usually is". These scammers have human nature pegged and play the self-deluding greed part of it to the hilt. Nope we won't be doing 1 day auctions soon. We care about our users not getting SCAMMED.
With regards to Reserve auctions, we only charge a nominal fee (.25, if I recall correctly) if the item doesn't sell. We do this to control the trollers who are only interested in harvesting email addresses from folks who send them messages like "what is your reserve?". This also holds down the clutter from folks listing auctions only to get a free valuation. Not quite sure what you're getting at with your other comments but we do rely on our users to report any apparent irregularities if they note them. So if you do, please do. Not sure why you think you might have upset me...guess my skin is a little thicker than you might think..I'm certainly not upset.. believe me if I were, you'd not have to guess!!! LOL. |

| (no avatar) | I can not receive responses to my questions to sellers who list items for 3 days or more, let alone 1 day sales. Three days seems like the shortest reasonable time for people to communicate, if you are lucky to get the cooperation. Something needs to be done to encourage sellers to respond to questions. Also, when clarifying some issues, I get a some sarcastic responses such as, "If you would look at the picture, you would see that it has..." It is the responsibility of the buyer to ask questions. I don't need the sellers answering as though I'm an idiot or a novice buyer. I ask the questions so the seller can not hide behind the defense that I should have asked before bidding. I want it in writing that I can print from an email. |
