Thread Title: "Mauser Broomhandle Information Please"
(no avatar) I am stumped. I have a consigned gun that I will be auctioning that has me a little confused. I am sure it's a re-work (nickel plated receiver), so I am sure it's probably not the find of the century, but I want to offer a complete and accurate description when I list it. By all appearances, it is a standard wartime commercial model with a 5.5" barrel, 10 shot mag, 30 groove walnut grips and adjust 50-1000 meter rear sight. It has the "NS" markings on the back of the hammer and falls within the serial number range as described in the Blue Book for this model. It does exhibit deep machine and tooling marks on the receiver. The numbers ARE NOT matching. This is my problem. The customer's deceased husband left detailed notes and she brought them to me. He claims this is a 9mm pistol. My gunsmith quickly checked and yes...it does appear to be a 9mm. The blue book says that it should be a 7.63 Mauser. Is it re-chambered also or does someone have knowledge of these being produced in 9mm? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed . Ladygunslingers

(no avatar) probably a rebore. My rule on mixmaster Broomies is that they are unsafe and should be sold as non shooters unless papered as a restoration from a reputable Broomie person. This comes from 30 years of experience with them

(no avatar) LOL - Wild West, you have a lot more experience than me with them if you have ever seen one. This is my first . You give good advice. Thanks.
